The Chinese University of Hong Kong, abbreviated as CUHK, is a public research university located in Ma Liu Shui, Sha Tin, Hong Kong. It is also the first research university in Hong Kong.

As of October 2018, among the alumni, professors, and researchers of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, a total of 5 have won the Nobel Prize, 1 has won the Fields Medal, and 1 has won the Turing Award. Other awards include the Wolf Prize in Mathematics, the L ö nnow Prize in Literature, and the Kruger Lifetime Achievement Award in Humanities and Social Sciences, making it the only Hong Kong university with alumni who have received top international awards and full-time teaching by Nobel Prize, Fields Medal, and Turing Award winners. 67% of the Nobel Prize level scholars in Hong Kong's education history are alumni or professors of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The college system is a distinctive feature of CUHK and unique among local universities. The existing member colleges include Chung Chi College, New Asia College, United College, and Shaw College, as well as the newly added Sun Yat sen College, Shun Heng College, King Man College, Wu Yee Sun College, and Harmony College. They complement universities by providing student-centered holistic education and caring guidance, strengthening communication and interaction between teachers and students, and consolidating students' sense of belonging to the academy and alma mater.
