The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, abbreviated as HKUST, is a public research university in Hong Kong, located on the Clear Water Bay Peninsula. It is the third institution in Hong Kong to receive a university title.

Since its establishment, HKUST has been teaching in English. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology now has four academic schools, namely the School of Business, the School of Engineering, the School of Science, and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. In addition, there is an interdisciplinary curriculum department that provides interdisciplinary courses. HKUST has been awarded as one of the three best higher education institutions in Asia for several consecutive years.

As of July 2019, it ranked first in Hong Kong in the QS and Times World Young University Rankings, and has won the world rankings for two consecutive years in the latter; Hong Kong ranks second in the QS Asia University, QS World University, and Times World University rankings, while Times Asia University ranks first in Hong Kong. As one of the top universities in Asia, the international academic reputation of HKUST is growing day by day. As early as 1996, Professor Wu Jiawei, the founding president of the University of Science and Technology of China, initiated the establishment of the Association of East Asian Research Universities (AEARU) to lead exchanges and cooperation among top universities in the region. Today, USTC has become an internationally renowned and leading institution of higher education, continuing to pursue excellence and seek breakthroughs in various fields such as science, engineering, business education, humanities, and social sciences.
