The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) is the only university in Hong Kong that focuses on teacher education and is also one of the eight statutory public universities under the University Grants Committee. The predecessor of Jiao Tong University was the Hong Kong Institute of Education, which merged five teacher training colleges in 1994. In 2018, the education and faculty training of Jiao Tong University ranked 9th globally and 2nd in the Asia region in the international QS World University Rankings; Linguistics ranks among the top 151-200 in the world.
The Education University of Hong Kong has three faculties (Bowen and Social Sciences, Education and Human Development, and Humanities), comprising a total of 16 departments (Asian and Policy Studies, Culture and Creative Arts, Health and Physical Education, Mathematics and Information Technology, Science and Environment, Social Sciences, Curriculum and Instruction, Early Childhood Education, Education Policy and Leadership, International Education and Lifelong Learning, Psychology, Special Education and Counseling, Chinese Linguistics, English Education, Linguistics and Modern Languages, Literature and Culture), offering undergraduate courses in various fields including Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Social Sciences. Part time continuing education courses provided by in-service teachers; The graduate school is responsible for coordinating various research-oriented or coursework doctoral and master's programs, such as philosophy doctoral and education doctoral programs. In addition, the college has established multiple school level research and development centers, pursuing excellent research and collaborative projects, and actively participating in society.
